Flame Cremation
We are proud to own and operate our own flame cremator. While many crematoria throughout New Zealand are council-operated, having our own facility gives us greater control over when each cremation takes place and allows your loved one to remain in the care of the Simply Funerals family throughout every stage of their farewell.
Our cremator is proudly pink and has been affectionately named “The Pink Lady.” She is operated by our experienced team with the utmost dignity, care and respect.
Witnessing the Cremation
We understand and respect that, for some families and cultures, witnessing the beginning of the cremation is an important part of saying farewell. This is sometimes referred to as “viewing” or “witnessing the charge.”
Our crematorium has a dedicated viewing window, allowing family members to be present and witness this stage of the cremation if they wish. This option can be arranged with our funeral team, who will guide and support your family throughout the process.
Cremation Cost
A standard-size flame cremation is $715.00 including GST. This price is for the cremation only; additional funeral services and arrangements are charged separately.
Water Cremation
The Only Water-Cremation Facility in the North Island - Coming soon
Simply Funerals is proud to be bringing the first and only water-cremation facility to the North Island, offering families a gentle and environmentally considerate alternative to traditional flame cremation.
Water cremation—also known as alkaline hydrolysis—uses a carefully controlled combination of water, warmth and alkaline minerals instead of flame. The process gently returns the body to its natural elements while treating every loved one with dignity, care and respect.

Because this is the only water-cremation facility in the North Island, families wishing to choose water cremation will need to make their arrangements through one of our family-owned funeral homes or our online cremation service.
Our funeral team will coordinate the complete journey—including transferring your loved one into our care, completing the necessary documentation, arranging the water cremation and returning the remains to your family.
Water-Cremation Cost
A standard water cremation will be $1,295.00 including GST.
This price is for the water cremation only. Transfers, funeral arrangements, professional services, urns and other requested services are charged separately.
